DOCTOR OF MEDICINE (EQUIVALENT TO M.B.B.S.)

The Doctor of Medicine (MD) program comprises the Basic Sciences and Clinical Clerkships/rotations. The Basic Science Program is completed on the island of Bonaire in 4 semesters (16 months). This is followed by 6 semesters (or 24 months) of clinical rotations at affiliated teaching hospitals throughout the United States and abroad, including Inida. The length of the MD program is therefore approximately 40-48 months, depending on the time that a student may elect to take to prepare for the USMLE exams. Extended programs are also available for those who choose to take a lesser load per semester.

SJSM school year is divided into three semesters: Fall: September to December, Spring: January-April, and Summer: May- August. There are rolling admissions three times a year for the Fall, Spring and Summer semesters. The deadlines for the January, May and September semesters are one month prior to the start of the respective semester. A decision can normally be communicated with in 7-10 working days from the date of receipt of the complete application.

The admissions committee will evaluate suitable applicants from India and Gulf with good academic record and motivation to study medicine.

The campus is located on the beautiful Netherland Antilles island Bonaire, in the heart of the capital city, Kralendijk, where students spend approximately 16 months during Basic Sciences program. Clinical Sciences program can be done in any reputed teaching hospitals in India.
